Solution
Whether or not the CPU can be upgraded will depend on the socket used by your laptop. The i3-3110m supported the FCBGA1023 and FCPGA988 sockets. If it is the BGA socket it cannot be upgraded. If PGA it can be (theoretically). I couldn't find any info on the motherboard.

Use CPU-Z to determine your socket type.

As for upgrading. If you can upgrade. Then it would only be the same generation i5 or i7. Assuming the BIOS has the correct microcode. You'll be limited to an i5 or i7 of the same TDP or lower. For the best chance it would...

Assuming you could upgrade the CPU. Gaming improvement would be minor. You'd still be stuck with integrated graphics. Realistically you need a new laptop designed for gaming. Ones which are decent start around $800. They've come down a lot in price, $800 is cheap for a gaming laptop. I've seen some for less.
