How is this build? Gaming/Light virtualization

Hi guys,

I am looking at getting the below build and was wondering whether there were any suggestions. Preferably not looking to spend any more unless the upgrades are noticeably worth it and not much more.

The machine is going to be used for gaming and also some light virtualization (Few VMs running for pen testing etc.)

I am also thinking or using my GTX 970 for the time being as opposed to getting the 1080 and taking the cost in 1 hit. However, with that I'm worried that the GTX970 will bottleneck the CPU for the gaming side of things.

I already have drives that I will be installing into the machine from my current build.

I am looking to get the machine to the stage whereby I do not need to upgrade for years to come and when that time comes it will most likely just be the GPU that needs updating.

Any suggestions are appreciated

Since you're in the UK, why not make it an all Fractal Affair...well except the PSU with the Fractal Celsius S24/S36 AIO?
You forgot to add the SSD to your already good build.

What sort of games are you planning to tax the system with? You seem fine to me. If the GTX1080 is en route, the GTX970 will be a good placeholder.

With regards to the RAM speed, I've read online the 3000MHZ is more than ample and it isn't really worth the extra cost, would you disagree with this?

The water cooling I am looking at Corsair 115i as a friend of mine has used it and it cannot be faulted. As far as I am aware this cooler fits well into the case so should be all good.

The SSD's that I have are cheap Toshiba SSDs that I got from my old work place but I am also looking at getting some Crucial SSDs to replace the OS drive + extra HDD's that I will use for the time being.

Games that are running are just a mix of everything from low end games such as CSGO to some more resource hungry games such as Assetto Corsa, Ark, PUBG etc.

The 1080 wouldn't be on route I was planning on using the 970 for 2-3 months whilst saving for the 1080. However, it is just as possible for me to purchase the 1080 in one go if the 970 is going to become a bottleneck.

Let me know what you opinions are on the RAM and whether the speed is worth the extra cash
