MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X, what is your full load temps? and what is your fan curve/speed at?

Currently my 1080 hits the default Temp. Limit set in afterburner at 83 degrees celcius, the problem i have is that the gpu at that point downclocks itself atleast -100MHz, and the fans are spinning at what i assume is 100%, which then makes the GPU unbearably loud.

i don't think that the case airflow is the problem:
Phanteks p400s, 3x 120mm enermax t.b rgb as intake, and a standard NZXT 120mm fan as exaust on top of my CPU AIO radiator.

Solution
80°C is kinda normal for a gpu.
Blowerstyle GPUs often run at 100°C...

I googled the case and to me it looks like that the front does not have mesh and is closed off nearly completly!
Only a little gap at the bottom and the bot right?

even if you have 3 fans in the Front - they wont pull a lot of fresh air into the case.

Every system is different, so you'd be better off configuring our own fan profile.

IIRC the GamingX doesn't start the fans until 60'C

A custom profile, with 30% fan speed at lower temps should allow you to operate between 30-70% fan speed, reducing noise, without negatively impacting temps.

The fans are running at 100% when the gpu hits the 80c mark
