I've had this weird issue with my pc ever since I built it. Everything went smoothly in my first build except for 3 things; 1 When i try to restart my pc, it won't boot past the bios, and doesn't detect the hdd in the sata port. But if I turn off my it will boot fine? The other one or both of the other issue may have be the cause too, so ill list them below.

2 Tried to put my 6700k into the socket misaligned and minor bent a few pins(Brought a new motherboard, didn't want to risk bending the pins back)

3 I didn't format my old hdd, so I got a license issue with windows but this resolved by contacting Microsoft support; now the 3 rd is one the title mention

Sounds like an issue with detecting the HDD. Very strange that there's no issues from a cold boot, but a reboot causes issues.

I would try another SATA cable &/or port on the motherboard, just to check that out.

Are you sure the HDD/boot manager is set to boot priority #1 in the BIOS?

Hi thanks for the response. The HDD is set to boot priority #1 but once i restart it doesn't show anything in the boot order, regardless of which SATA port it's connected too.
