I am confused by the overclocking process here. Ok, my setup is:

ASUS M5A97 2.0 with latest BIOS
16GB Kingston HyperX Fury 1866 DDR3 (8x2)
AMD FX-6300 (adding a liquid cooler tonight)
Gigabyte GTX 1070 Xtreme Gaming

Ok, i have used the AI Suite and the "extreme" auto-tuner. It works, and brings the CPU to about 4.2ghz, which i am happy with. However, it lowers the memory frequency to like 1200mhz (approx) whenever i do that. So i have to reset everything and do the MEMOK button and it all goes back to stock settings. I have tried typing in the memory timings myself, but whenever the AI Suite overclocks it it doesnt give me the choice for 1866. It only lets me choose non standard frequencies like 2047mhz and weird stuff like that. If i choose any of them besides AUTO the computer doesnt boot, and i have to reset everything. This is all with the MB being on MANUAL as far as overclock settings.

I have noticed there is DOCP one, but am not sure what that is. If i choose that, i can choose 1866mhz for my memory, but then the overclock programs will change it back to MANUAL when i run it, and will give me the weird memory frequencies again. I have tried AMD Overdrive auto-clock as well and it seems to do the same thing.

How can i keep the auto-tune settings AND keep my memory running at 1866mhz?

Thanks in advance!

Uninstall AI Suite. Auto overclocking CPU is asking for trouble. Reset your bios. Disable any power saving options you might have. Like Cool'n'Quiet or Eco mode.

As for overclocking CPU; go to BIOS > Ai tweaker > CPU core ratio > sync all cores > 1 core limit > 42 (bios may be a little different)

If you RAM downclocks(which shouldn't), manually set it to 1866. It's just below CPU options.

If you crash/freeze, you have to increase your voltage slightly.

Keep your temps below 80c and your good to go.
