Should I use Bitlocker?

So I just finished installing Windows and updating all drivers, should I use Bitlocker to encrypt my drive, I have set the key to be stored in my Microsoft account.

I don't want to start it yet because I want some opinions on whether it's necessary, will there be any slow down?

Is it a laptop or a desktop system? On a laptop it should be enabled by default. On a desktop I would only recommend using it if there is a risk that the drives may be stolen. Yes, there is a performance impact when it is enabled but the magnitude of the performance decrease depends upon the processing power of your CPU.
