Audio sounds constricted

I just bought the Sennheiser HD 579's and they sound very constricted when I'm using them. I feel like there could be much more sound released but it's being stopped by something. Like when I compare them to my $10 headphones, the cheaper ones sound a bit better which should not be the case. I don't know if it has something to do with my computer, but I'd really like to be able to listen to good audio for once. I'm also not sure if I need a soundcard for these headphones.

My Specs:
ASUS TUF Mark 2 Motherboard
I7-7700k
16GB Ripjaws Ram

Solution
Try the Sennheiser HD 579's on another computer or audio device.

Determine if the problem follows the 579's or stay with the current audio source.

Verify that you have the correct and current software (if any) installed.

Windows 10? Try the built-in troubleshooters. The troubleshooters may find and fix something.

Likewise click the small speaker icon located in the lower right hand screen corner. There sound be a variety of menu choices with further windows, tabs, and properties settings to configure.

Likely to be several layers to work through. Could be some mixer related setting or choice of "environment" that needs to be re-configured.

Look first then try making changes - one...
