laptop can't connect to internet with correct password

I am trying to connect to this wifi connection. It's just a standard WPA2 connection.

I know I am putting the password in correctly. For a second after entering the password, it takes a few seconds to connect, and then I'm connected to the internet. After that, in about 10 seconds, it disconnects me from the network entirely.

It seems strange to me that it lets me in the internet for a second, then kicks me off even though I entered the right password and everything. What's going on?

I've read that Bluetooth runs at 2.4GHz (similar/same to frequency as 2.4GHz WiFi) and that those two can interfere with each other. I've never experienced problems running Bluetooth and 2.4GHz WiFi simultaneously, but if disabling bluetooth on your laptop is an option, you could try that.

Maybe not the best solution but if you get really stuck, you could buy a cheap USB WiFi adapter and give that a go.

Try and uninstall your existing wireless adapter's drivers and reinstall them with the latest found on your manufacturer's site. Might it be possible to state the make and model of your wireless router and the wireless adapter you're working with?

I imagine you have already tried restarting your laptop and router. Just to isolate whether issue is with your laptop or the router... are other devices still connecting to router OK?

yeah I've isolated the issue to my computer. Other devices can connect just fine to the wireless network

I don't know the name and make of the router... but the wireless adapter's name is Intel(R) Dual Band wireless AC 8260.

The thing is also that this laptop connects just fine to other wireless connections, it just has issues with this one. This wireless connection works just fine with other devices too. I'll try updating the driver.
