Ok i have Ryzen 5 1600 with gtx 1080 gpu and have 8 gb of ram that is 2400 mhz and my fps in games is a joke so im thinking shoud i get 16gb of ram that is 3000mhz or intel cpu i5-8400 and the get i5-8600k.

Solution
I think moving to 16GB RAM will help a lot..As to moving to Intel, in gaming especially at 1080p, it will make a difference. Playing at 1440p not so much but try adding 8GB more RAM before making a change as the RAM can still be reused on the new system and I think most of your issues will be resolved.

Oh and just to reiterate and as Captain Gadget say....FAST RAM will make a difference on Ryzen..Ryzen likes fast RAM and will make the most of it.
Okay, I'm a bit surprised at the problems you are having as the 1600 paired to a 1080 should give you a fairly good gaming experience (and thats coming from a 8700K user)...I would definitly go for more RAM as 8GB is just not enough for todays Games. 16GB and the fastest RAM you can get thats compatiable as Ryzen likes fast RAM.

The i5-8400 will be better at gaming then the 1600 and the 8600K will be even better and the overclocking on the i5-8600K is stellar! but I poersonally dont think there will be a huge FPS difference, yes in a few games it will be big but still not as to give you a bad experience.

What resolution are you playing games at?

Yep..you have it...But you must CHECK Ram compatiabilty with your motherboard before you buy the RAM. Ryzen is quiet picky about the RAM especially on Gen 1 Ryzen like yours....So double check your new RAM works with your motherboard or you will be in a world of pain....
