All my games stutter and I can't find the cause

I play PUBG, Fortnite, Rainbow Six and a fe other small games like gold with your friends.

These games all stutter and hitch when I playing quite a lot. I have checked

1. Temperatures
2. Drivers
3. Storage (moved to SSD)


Is is much worse since the latest windows update.

Any ideas?

I have been getting massive stutter issues in games, most notably Fortnite, where it hitches frequently and other games like rainbow SIx where it happens too.

My hardware seems to be in working order;

i5-4590
Gtx 970
120gb SSD (wioth Fornite On)
2tb HDD, with other games on on
EVGA G2 650w

I have done passmark testes and checked all temps and they are fine. The only thing that has happened recently is that I've had an ant infestation. Is it possible that they could have done some damage to my PC. Probably only a few got in total and I actually never saw any inside although they were underneath the case a lot.

Ok this is something to consider has the inside of the pc been cleaned? Open it up unplug the power cord push the power button to remove any power and look inside is there dust or dirt if so a can of air when the pc is cool not hot clean it out..
The gpu your vid card is on the weaker side of things also.
Try msconfig to shut programs off at startup and services not needed

start run type msconfig
you can check for corrupt files by
en Command Prompt as an administrator, very often referred to as an "elevated" Command Prompt.
Important: For the sfc /scannow command to work properly, it must be executed from an elevated Command Prompt window in Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista. This is not required in previous versions of Windows.
Once Command Prompt is open, type the following command and then press Enter.
sfc /scannow
Tip: There's a space between sfc and /scannow. Executing the sfc command with its option next to it (without a space) might result in an error.

System File Checker will now verify the integrity of every protected operating system file on your computer. It might take quite a while to finish.

Repeat whatever process caused your original problem to see if sfc /scannow corrected the issue.

The PC is clean and I will try to do that check as soon as possible. Considering I have two hard drives how do I know which one is being checked. Also I don't consider my FOC Strix 970 to be weak, it's at the same level as a 1060 and plays my gamesa t over 100fps.

anything different that you have noticed in your comp when these issues started?

I have a gtx 970 galax OC and notice the same behavior. and can't really tell what is the problem too...
that is what i have already tried:

already tried:
-reset/remove overclock from cpu and gpu
-reinstall games
-check no to "fullscreen optimizations"
-energy options and set cpu to always 100%
-chkdsk
-memtest
-HPET on and off
-uninstalling msi afterburner and VFX audio enhancer.
-fiddling with windows crap (superfetch, telemetry etc)
-disable cache shader
-fresh installed win10. no good
-underclocked and overclocked GPU. no good
-tried RAM in single and dual channel, both sticks alone, higher timmings, xmp on and off. No good
-reconnected the cables and gpu. no good.
(- i have even bought a new hard drive thinking that it was the problem)

What i can say for sure that, in my case, it ALWAYS OCCURS WHEN LOADING TEXTURES. all the games that don't "load nothing" during gameplay like Assetto Corsa, F1 2017 and others, i have never felt it.
In the other hand, games that demand a lot more loading textures like PUBG, Forza Horizon, and Even Rocket league when a new player is joining the match, the stutters happen!

That simply isn't the case there are millions of people who use 8gb or Ram and for most games it's enough, when there is a difference it's in small amount of fps 10% or so. The strix 970 OC perroms better than a 1060 Gb standard clock and is easily capable of running this game well.


My fps is about 90 on mostly high settings, that isn't the cause of stuttering.

So a week ago my games started to stutter for no reason making everything unplayable. They hitch and stutter all of the time regardless of graphical settings.

I have tried everything my power to fix it including formatting and reinstalling everything, checking all components for temperatures and bechmarking disks, ram, cpu, you and everything is stable. Tried numerous Nvidia drivers.Cleaned PC. Interestingly the benchs don't stutter (3d Mark).

My fps is stable, but my frametime is all over the place when monitoring in MSI afterburner, this is undoubtedly the issue.

I have posted on numerous website and for days and nobody has offered any solution.

Is this faulty hardware and what could it possible be if there is no sign it is?

You told that you check for temperatures - please check again and report exact values during load for both CPU and GPU. Overheating is the most common cause for such behaviour, especially when it happens all of a sudden.

The second thing I'd try is watch task manager while idle in desktop and see how much is your CPU being used.
