GTX 1060 is underperforming..?

I recenlty sold my 1050 Ti for a brand new Galax EXOC GTX 1060 3GB Edition and it kind of seems that it's underperforming? I'm not really sure if it is, because my basis of comparison here is through the benchmark videos in YouTube where in games like GTA V, they get over 90 FPS in ultra settings (with no MSAA and all advanced settings off). Meanwhile, I only get about 50-60 with the same settings that they do. I decided to turn some settings down, like turning reflection to high instead of ultra and grass from very high to high and it did get better (from 60 fps average to 80) but it still.. Just didn't feel right.

A 1060 is supposed to run 1080p games with ultra and I am quite baffled that it's just performing the exact same way as my 1050 Ti did. And may I also add that while playing GTA V, my GPU would randomly be at 100% at all times and drop my FPS TO 10. What is happening here? I also experience stutters here and there. And yes, I've only experienced those problems in GTA V but with the card underperforming, it is also pretty evident with other games too. In League of Legends I'm supposed to be getting 180+ fps with everything maxed 1080p BUT I'm only getting 140-120 fps with the shadows turned off and mind you that League's shadows is the most fps hog out of all the settings. What's up with that? I only have a 60hz monitor so those extra frames doesn't matter I suppose, but I still payed for those extra frames.

To be clear and to make it easier for you guys to find out what the hell is happening with my gpu or maybe even my whole pc, here are the things I've done so far:

1. I've reinstalled my GPU drivers.
2. Made sure my nvidia control panel settings were back to normal after reinstalling my drivers.
3. My pc is already at high performance mode (power settings)
4. Recently deleted temporary files and defragged my HDD. Also trimmed my SSD.
5. Still got 24 GB left on my windows SSD and 80 GB left on my games HDD. (All of my games are there)
6. Both ram and cpu are oc'd. GPU is not since it has been already factory overclocked.
7. Windows and all of my drivers are up to date.
8. Not thermal problems. My temps are fine, getting 65c in GTA V and only goes up to 70 at intense scenes. My CPU is on the same page too.

Here are my specs:

CPU: Ryzen 5 1400 (OC'd to 3.9 GHz, 1.375v)

GPU: Galax EXOC GTX 1060 3 GB

MOBO: Gigabyte AB350M-HD3

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM 1TB

SDD: Kingston UV400 120 GB

RAM: Single Adata XPG Z1 8GB 2400 MHz (OC'd to 3000 MHz. I got lucky.)

PSU: Corsair VS450

Someone please enlighten me and help me with this. I am very disappointed with how my 1060 is performing and I kind of feel I'm getting scammed for my money. Thank you!

Well I know gta V can be quite cpu intensive-what is your cpu usage when playing? Also youtube benchmarks should be taken with a grain of salt unless they are from a reputable source. Additionally are you sure the benchmarks you've checked were for the 3gb and not for the 6gb one?

A couple of the things I do: First, benchmark your system with your original set up. Use a program like 3dmark, NOT a game. Games are variable, many things can affect performance in any individual game. You need to use a non game tool to find your baseline performance.

Next, once you install your upgraded component, like a new videocard, benchmark your system again. Use the exact same benchmarking tools in the exact same way. This will tell you, objectively as possible, how your upgrade compares. Not only that, but these tools will also show that your system is functioning normally, since you can compare your benchmark scores directly with others using similar components.

Once you've established that the upgrade is functioning normally, then you can start testing games. Right now it's hard to judge if the 1060 installation is functioning normally. Also, don't judge everything against what people on Youtube show. There are many variables to this and those people aren't always honest about what they're doing.

Here are the few things working against you:

1st> Most YT video would be running the GPU on 8700k (or 7700k since 1060 is already so old at this point), not a 1400.

2nd> GTA is memory bandwidth intensive, and YTers currently generally run test with a dual channel 3000-3200 16GB setup, i.e. ~~34-40GB/s memory bandwidth. Even at 3000Mhz OCed, your single stick only provide half the bandwidth of a generic YTers setup, which could account for ~15% performance deficit.

3rd> The VS450 is decidedly a low end PSU, that Corsair has changed/updated its internal components multiple times and not always for the better, which would provide less stable 12V power to the GPU and in turn could limit the card ability to max out its GPU Boost 3.0 capabilities.

Hmm..now that you've mentioned it, my single stick of 8 GB ram might be the problem here. I've been planning to buy another sitck of 8 GB ram anyways and go dual channel as I've seen some benchmarks in YT where FPS gains are almost 20% or sometimes even 30% with dual channel ram especially that I have a Ryzen CPU which loves that sort of set up. As for my PSU, I am also aware that it isn't really a highly reputable one but it has been running quite well for me when I had a 1050 Ti.

I don't have my 1050 Ti anymore, but thank you for the suggestion. I will use 3DMark as my benchmark tool and compare it with others who have the same configuration as I do (R5 1400 with 1060 3G and single channel 8GB Ram) and also, for the benchmark video I mentioned in my original post, it was this one:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9quseoBPUM&t=709s

by Santiago Santiago, seems like a reputable guy for me. Do note that he had dual channel ram AND a 6 GB 1060..so yeah. Maybe my 1060 isn't the problem but my single channel ram and 3 GB of VRAM is. But still, I don't think that the gap in FPS should be that high. I just finished a game of League of Legends and I literally got 60 fps in huge teamfights. Really? 60 fps in League of Legends with a 1060? That's just unjustifiable. Though I'm aware that my pc has some parts that maybe the cause of it underperforming, I still have this gut or feeling that there is a problem with my card.
