My specs:
i7 2600
foxconn mobo lga 1155
GTX 980 ti Founder's Edition
8GB 1333mhz
VS650

My PC stutters while playing R6 Siege. Usually I take 120-130FPS last week, but now it has big increments, from 120-130FPS, it's down to 70 then goes 90 goes back down to 80 then 60, hits back up to 90 again, and so on.

Is it because my CPU is still on 2nd gen?

I already bought a MOBO LGA 1150 and planning to get i7 4770 non K.

any thoughts? It would be a great help! Thanks!

Solution
Check the motherboard website and make sure you have all the latest chipset drivers. Windows updates mess with audio, Lan and USB especially, which can cause the problems.

No, your 2nd Gen stuff is still good, it'll handle any AAA title out currently, just don't expect maximum fps when compared to newer, stronger cpus.
