Back in 2008 when I got my first pc, I installed crysis on it. It wasn't an amazing pc at the time, it was mediocre. But it could run crysis on low, sometimes on medium, without any big problems. Or at least, no problems until around half an hour of constant playtime. Whenever my pc got super hot, the game always seemed to display a raw, slightly transparent texture image on the whole screen. Sometimes it was a gun texture. Sometimes it was some grass. And in some horrifying cases, a face texture with no eyes, or a set of teeth, which at the time, since I was only 9 or 10, made me piss myself in fear. The image would not disappear unless I turned off the entire game. It even lingered on the menu screens. And if I immediately turned on the game after I closed it, the image would pop up a lot sooner than if I left my PC to rest for a few minutes and cool down
It's a shame I don't have my old pc any longer, or I would have taken some screenshots or photos. It never happened again on any other pc I ever played it on, even shittier ones. I am just extremely curious as to why or how it occurred. It's the only game I've ever encountered the glitch in too. Did this happen to anybody else?
