i recently got into Fortnite and I was (surprisingly) hitting an average 65 fps at low settings (except for anti aliasing). however i would get frequent frame drops and lag spikes ranging from .5 to 2 seconds. sometimes the game would freeze with no way to close it without task manager and sometimes a message pops up saying i ran out of video memory when trying to allocate a texture that closes my game once i close the popup. could my low system ram or graphics card ram amount be causing the spikes?

Solution
I have same problem, where when it freezes, it takes up to 14GB (?!) of paging file and there is no way to quit except using task manager.
I have 8GB of RAM and I am above minimum requirements.

I guess the problem is with the game itself.
quick google search says fortnite recommends 2gb vram. so that shouldnt be an issue

but it also recommends 8 gb of ram on system which you only have 4 of (and soem is taken by system so you have at best aroudn 2-3gb for games to use which is udner what they recommend and msot liekyl your issue.
