Windows is not booting via HDD, HDD is shown in the boot device menu but when I try to boot it says media disk failure.

If the drive is dead and if I go to the WD service center(make is WD), they'll erase the drive or provide me with a fresh one.

WHAT I WANT IS - To recover my data, if possible any steps/walkthrough to recover it myself(i am technically capable to do so, but lazy to research :D)

Any help is appreciated.

Getting an enclosure is also useful for situations like this. Other things you can try are EaseUS or Recuva.

Unfortunately, your chances of doing this yourself pretty much all require some PC to read the hard drive somehow. If software solutions fail, you're looking at a data recovery service, which are unfortunately fairly expensive.

The best way to recover data is not to lose it in the first place. Whether this recovery goes smoothly for your or with more difficulty/expense, I urge you to make a proper, regular, backup solution going forward. It's a basic part of maintaining a PC, just like changing the air filter in your furnace or the oil in your car.

1 Some paid recover data software could recover your data
You could google this software to prent from advertising
2 Check your hard drive healthy, if ok, use other hard drive case to recover your data
