CPU Fan not working on PWM mode

Hello. I recently built a pc with these specs:

ASUS ROG STRIX B350-F GAMING
AMD R7 1800X
16GB (2X8) CRUSIAL BALLISTIX SPORT LT
ASUS DUAL GTX 1060 6GB
NOCTUA NH-L9X65 AMD
SAMSUNG SSD 860 PRO 256GB
CORSAIR RM550X PSU

For like 1 week, everything worked perfectly. Suddenly, today the cpu fan (the noctua's fan) stopped working and the computer shut down (by overheating I guess) and the next time I tried to boot I got "CPU Fan Error". I read on the internet different solutions and for now the only one working is by setting the noctua's fan on DC mode and not PWM.

When I set the fan on DC mode the fan spins where on PWM it doesn't. Also, when it is on DC I still get the error but I changed the CPU Fan Speed Limit to "Ignore" and there's no more error.

I am wondering, what happened out of the blue and the fan stopped working? Why isn't the PWM mode working any more? Any thoughts?

Thank you in advance.

No I haven't tried to plug it on another header. Where should I plug it? On CPU_OPT or CHA_FAN?
So you're saying that it's either the fan that faulty and don't support pwm anymore or the header on the mobo is faulty and it doesn't work anymore?

Thanks for your answer.

it really doesnt matter which header but i would plug my cpu fan into the cpu header

if the fan works when pluged into the cpu header more than likely your other header is not working properly

now if your cpu fan is still not functioning correctly on the new header there is something wrong with the fan

I don't think there's something wrong with the fan because as I said on DC mode the fan works just fine. The problem is why isn't the PWM mode working anymore?

Update: I connected the fan on the CHA_FAN1 and using PWM on boot it started spinning. Though monitoring the temperature and the fan rpm I noticed high 70s C with Cinebench. So the conclusion is that the cpu fan header is faulty and doesn't support PWM.

What should I do?
