Need help, the computer is only a few years old and one day randomly decided to stop working. I went to turn it on and all the lights come on but won't give power to the key board or mouse and isn't sending a signal to the monitor. I have no clue how to fix this without spending money at Geek Squad, any advice?

Solution
If the lights are coming on then it is getting power. The first thing I would do is see about being able to see what is on the screen. It may have an error message that you just aren't seeing. Try the following...

1. Turn the laptop off (not sleep or hibernate but off).
2. Connect an external monitor to the laptop.
3. Turn on the external monitor.
4. Turn on the laptop.

NOTE: You may have to press an "external monitor" button. Could be the f4 button or a button with two monitors on it, for the external monitor to work.

Now if this doesn't help at all, I would suggest having someone look at it.
