My router has two connections as many do nowadays, a 2.4ghz and a 5ghz one. First of all the 5ghz connection is absolutely garbage compared to the 2.4ghz which doesnt really make sense. Secondly I have been trying to connect my PC to the 2.4ghz connection because it is faster. But every time I do windows 10 simply says “no internet, secured”. The 2.4 ghz connection works fine on my iphone and all other devices in the house except for my pc. Also this only just started after updating my wireless adapters (Netgear A6210) drivers. Lastly whenever I am trying to fix my PC’s connection to the 2.4ghz one through the netgear genie, windows thinks it hilarious to continuously connect to the 5ghz connection. Yes I know to uncheck the “connect automatically” box but windows literally recheks it after I uncheck it and try to reconfigure my pc to the 2.4 connection. I have even tried forgetting the connection on my pc but it just pops back up. Windows 10 I sincerely hate you. Please help.

I would uninstall the netgear connection manager program and just let windows decide.

It is also possible DNS on the computer is messed up through a wrong setting or a virus hijacking the setting.

As for 2.4ghz and 5ghz.

A 2.4ghz signal has lower bandwidth but a longer range.

A 5ghz signal has higher bandwidth but a much shorter range.

If you are close to the router you can get really good speeds with 5ghz, but once you get too far from it the increased bandwidth can't offset the shorter range.

It wasnt the Netgear genie that was giving me the "no internet, secured" message. It was windows. However the Netgear program does show that my pc is able to connect to the router however the router, when used from the 2.4 ghz connection, cant connect to the internet.
