I was not aware that a main board had limitations on how much wattage from a power supply it could handle. In all my years I have never ran into this issue. I just thought the board would use what it needed.
Does anyone know what the limit is for Koloe x58 main board? Apparently 750w is not within its specs. My computer just keeps restarting after install of this power supply.

Solution
I would recommend using pcpartpicker for any future purchases you might make. Comes with a built-in compatibility filter and sources their prices from reputable vendors.

There are no limitations.

A motherboard will pull what the components require.

Where did you hear this information?

I've never heard of that motherboard either.... Are you sure that's the correct brand? Even among off-brand X58 boards, I've never heard of Koloe/.

Somewhere on this site. A guy wrote in saying his computer kept restarting and I thought they determined it was a power supply issue but thinking about it I bet what it was, was power consumption of his CPU and the mainboard did not support it. Geesh.

Well so if it isnt to much power what the heck is causing my computer to keep restarting. It does it when I switch to this new 750w power supply and stops when I switch back to my original 550W.

Most of the X58 boards use a variant of an AMI BIOS (EVGA, MSI, ASUS etc).

I'm not aware of a 550 chipset...... X58 *is* the chipset.

550 is more likely to be an ethernet controller.

Can you post a link to the Wish product link? Gives us somewhere to start at least.

*EDIT* Good find Noah! Yeah, those off-brand boards are tough. There's really no frame of reference to start diagnosing. As for why the PSU is an issue, is anybodies guess.

the board may be a cheap one but no problems until new power supply so Im sure it is the power supply. Only info I have on the 750W is the model # ACX12V V2.3

Without knowing the specific PSU, it's impossible to rule out the PSU itself. That model number is just listing the ATX version.

The ATX version concerns me too. V2.3 is from 2007 or so, and V2.31 followed shortly thereafter. Anything outright listed V2.3 is ~10 years old (not inherently a bad thing on it's own, SeaSonic's M12II etc are 2.3), probably not a great sign.

Did it also come from Wish?
