after running seatools for dos long test ,it is supposed to give me an option for repair the drive, if it is a segate drive, but i have run the long test and it did not give me this option, has any body got an idea as to why?

There are very few drive related problems that are correctable via software. Mostly, if a drive fails the short drive self test or long generic test, with very few exceptions, then the drive is done and you should get your data off it immediately, if possible, and replace it.

If there are no options given for repairing the drive then it's likely the problems detected, if any, are not of a sort which can be remedied through a software fix. Mostly, only bad sectors can be restricted so data isn't written to those sectors anymore or in some cases a faulty partition can be repaired. If there is actual damage to the drive internally, nothing short of MAYBE repair in a clean lab, which is very expensive, is going to be possible to repair the...
