I have a Netgear Modem router combo ((C3700v2)) and I'm trying to setup wake on wan. I had my old Netgear router Working, but I don't believe I can make an arp entry with telnet on this router/modem. Is there anyway for me to get a static entry so I can wake my computer up outside of my network? Is there a different modem router combo I should get instead to have this functioning?

Solution
U can only use PING if you configure the wake up box NIC to listen for it, there are several NICs settings that will let you do that, I forget which, my past experience though, enabling those settings made my box wake up much more often than I like to, but try it won't blow up.
I wish I had a complete listing of what routers can do this but I don't. I use pfsense and am 99% sure it can configure static arp but I have had no need to do so for WOW.

Before u blame static arp as the reason you are not able to WOW... when the arp table is fresh, this should work, it will only fail when the arp table ages. If at the end static arp is the culprit and you are unable to procure a router with such feature, I suggest scheduling your box to wake up by itself several times/day to keep the arp table fresh.

Would there be an option to just ping the computer from the router? I can log into the router on wan no problem. I know my old wndr3400 with dd-wrt fw on it had an option to wake a computer from the router.
