Hello all. I just put together a basic gaming setup so I can get back to my glory days of recording and streaming on YouTube. I'd like to be able to record games like Overwatch, Fortnite, and the new Battlefield on good settings and 60 fps preferably at 1080p but I'll take 720p if it gets too much more expensive.

I'm pretty happy with what I have, but there's a lot of stuff about compatibility and parts limiting other parts that I don't understand, so I appreciate anyone who'd give it a look.

I'm going to use the SSD to record the videos onto and have everything else on the HDD (if that's stupid because some recording softwares aren't demanding, let me know). My budget could go up to around $1,000. Thanks for any feedback!

Windows 10 is probably the best for your use case; just disable automatic updates when you install. If that's the case with the Rosewill adapter, then the board that I provided in the list comes with built-in wifi. Also, how soon do you plan on building, and are you looking to OC at all? If you can hold out until around mid-august, B450 boards should be hitting the market, and will be of FAR better value than the current X470 boards.

Alternatively, you could save quite a bit by going for a B350 board, but then you'd have to deal with the possibility of not being able to boot due to an outdated BIOS. If you have a local PC shop nearby that offers free BIOS updates, that won't be a problem. Just confirm compatibility with the seller if...

Overall, a VERY solid build, but for a bit more money, you could get QUITE the increase in performance. Do you already own the Rosewill adapter? Also, do you want to include the price of windows in budget, or do you already own a copy? I'll get to work ASAP.

I don't own the Rosewill adapter, and I don't have the Windows yet but I don't think I'll factor it into the budget (also I'm not sure which Windows would be best for gaming and recording, new updates have a tendency to worsen things sometimes). Thanks for your help! I'll take any advice you can give me.

Also as far as your SSD is concerned, recording happens best when you're not recording to the drive you're playing on. So either record to your HDD when playing a game installed on your SSD or vice versa. If you do record/game on the same disk, it won't be that big of an issue.

Is there something wrong with making sure the OP is aware of the correct pricing of his hardware? I don't want this to veer off topic, I was just informing the OP that he might want to check the prices in PCPP itself without using rebates vs. judging the builds directly on the forum. Not meant as a slight to either of you.

Latest batches of boards are coming with BIOS updated. In case its not, the vendor can do it before shipping. OP can confirm that before purchase.

The latest batches of Cryorig H7's were supposed to be shipping out with native AM4 support since mid-2017 or so, but I ended up needing an adapter bracket nonetheless. It is as you said, the OP should check with the seller regardless.

Thanks for all the information guys! This is a lot to take in. I am willing to wait until mid-August to build this thing, so it looks like I oughta wait until then to get a B350 board (which I guess will assume has built in wifi?), and be sure to check with the seller to ensure that the BIOS is updated. And presumably I don't need to worry about installing Windows or anything because these new parts have them automatically? Hope I got that right.

I hope OC stands for overclocking or else I really am a noob, but it seems to be common practice and generally doesn't set fire to anything as long as it's up a notch or two, so I probably will be doing it. But as long as it can run and record the games all the cool kids are playing at 1080p I'm solid.

That would be a B450, which is about to launch. B350 is already there. Some of the boards come with built in wi-fi, its not a standard feature on all boards.
You still have to install Windows. Hardwares do not come with OS installed. You might not as well have to buy it right away.
OCis easy these days with dedicated buttons, so its no rocket science.
