Hey all, I got so excited when I saw Evo 970 on discount so I bought it just by being sure my mobo Z97 has m.2 slot.

So apparently, I totally missed the non-existing PCIe 3 support at Z97 so right now if Im not mistaken best my mobo can offer is PCIe 2.0 x2 ,while Evo 970 supports PCIe 3.0 x4.

I found the specs of my board: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/Z97DELUXE/specifications/
And it says that 'M.2 Socket 3 shares bandwidth with SATAExpress_1'

I am attaching the speed test results of evo 970 and my question is about if this is the best speed I can get with my current mobo, or am I missing some setting somewhere? I already have evo 850 and with this setup the speed difference is barely anything.

Thanks for the answers!

FYI, there's very little REAL WORLD difference between any modern SSD unless you are doing something that can actually utilize the performance. Like some parts of some video editing scenarios.

Games for example in general see zero benefit beyond any half decent SATA SSD, and Windows loading might gain a very small benefit with a fast M.2 SSD but actual usage probably won't see ANY obvious differences.

So even if you could DOUBLE the theoretical performance the real-world benefit might not be much.
