A mystery brand 600W power supply that can't actually do near 600W on the +12V rail and is available cheaply? I'd have to think long-and-hard before trying to run a bowl of potato salad with this PSU.

Generally speaking, the least expensive power supplies worth bothering with are the CX450, CX550, or one of the SeaSonic S12 II PSUs.
