Can I use a power adapter with lower amps than my original charger temporarily?

Hi there, this is a little off topic from the heavy computer talk but I have a question that is really important to me.

I bought an Ebike and it has a 48V 16AH battery. It came with a 48V 5A fast charger. This exact same bike comes with a slightly weaker battery thats cheaper and the only difference is it's 11.6AH and comes with a 2.5A charger.

My charger after only 3 days failed me and it will take 10 business days to get a new one but i need to use my bike now. I found a 48V 1.5A charger. Will this suffice long enough until I get a new charger? Charge time doesn't matter as I can charge it overnight. Please help me.
(The battery is not in use or connected to the bike when charging)

Depends. If the charger is actually just a power supply it may work but charge slower. If it is more sophisticated then it may not work as it may be looking for confirmation from the battery that’s it’s connected to the correct type of battery. A 48v 16Ah battery should have good charging protection built in so I wouldn’t be surprised by strict safety features.
