Title pretty much explains it, but I have a GTX1070 connected to an ASUS PG279Q through a 25ft DisplayPort Cable and to my Sony Receiver that is then output to my Sony TV through HDMI. My PC is in an HTPC and my desk is about 15FT away. I had a cheaper Monoprice cable that wouldn't let me go over 85Hz, so I bought this QVS 25FT but anything over 60Hz makes the screen flicker to black for a sec, come back on and flicker again. The higher I set the Hz, from 85-120-144-165Hz, it makes it happen more frequently. I want to get 165Hz since the card and display support it.

Is it the card, the cable, or the monitor that may be causing this? I am tired of buying cables to test.

Thank you!

It ended up being the cable that was the issue. StarTech was kind enough to guarantee their 15FT DisplayPort Cable (DISPLPORT15L) had the bandwidth, and they were right! Unfortunately after this Monoprice cable failure, that makes 3 bad cables I have received from them (2 HDMI cables previously), so I think I am done ordering from them.
