Once again marketing. You have the read between the lines.

This came directly from ASUS website "ROG Swift PG278QR gaming monitor is built for victory in the professional gaming arena, and features a WQHD panel with overclockable 165Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time. " They are saying 1ms response time. That isn't refresh rate. They are saying that the monitor is able to receive singles at 1ms or less. The refresh rate is 165 (overclocked) or 6ms per frame.

But they even screwed that up because in the specs it says "Response Time : 1ms (Gray to Gray)". That is the pixel refresh rate. Still the whole screen cannot refresh faster than 6ms.

Hate to break it to you but no monitor is 1ms response time. That is a marketing thing for pixels to switch from grey to white to grey again (GTG). You can interchange refresh rate and response time for most monitors that aren't super cheap. so 144hz is 6.9ms "response time"

traditionally way we think of response time isn't how monitors work. For monitors you have how fast the pixels can switch colors and how many times the screen refreshes per second. Pixels should always be able to refresh at at lest 4ms which still makes it faster than any gaming monitor out.

Than you have how long it takes the screen to refresh the image. That is what you are looking for....usually. In TVs this is a marketing scam because many TVs are stuck at 30hz and "interoperate" the image upwards of 240hz, or 240 times a second but still only display a maximum of 60hz.

Thanks did not know that but how do some monitors like the ASUS ROG Swift PG278QR advertise 27” 2560x1440 1ms 165Hz G-SYNC with 1ms at 165hz makes no sense if 144hz is limited to 6.9 ms
