So, Im buying a 2nd monitor that will be my new primary, but I only have 1 input for HDMI, and it doesn't look like there is anyhting else for the 2nd one to go into. Will a splitter work, My friend said it would display the same image on both monitors. So is there any other way to do this?

Solution
Your friend is right. An HDMI splitter would duplicate the image, not extend it. Unfortunately the only fix I can see is to get another gpu, one with multiple outputs. You could get a low profile gpu like a GT 710 for around 35-40 dollars. Also what gpu do you have? I'm curious.

You could possibly get some sort of adapter to use on one of the monitors.
