I have the cooler master masterbox 5 lite and I am not sure where to connect this wire on my board.

That is your RGB cable for the lighting of your case. You need to find a 4pin or 5 pin (5 Pin RGBW on some Gigabyte board) RGB connector on your motherboard...if it has one. Make sure you allign the arrow on the cable you are showing with the 12volt pin on the motherboard...Hope this helps.

Strike that, your board has 2 rgb connectors from what I can see..oops I am wrong!!!! its the gaming 3.
I would go the USB powered contoller route as its simple and cost effective:
