Hi,
Can you please advise me.
I have possibility to get:
FREE i7 860, 2x1tb, 4gb with very basic video card. (ex server)
Or spend £50 and get i3 3220, 500gb, 4gb with no video card.
The idea is to spend another £50-100 on used decent video card and use it for low end games.
Which desktop will have better potential for proper video card? I heard that i7 860 has pci 2, which is limited. I3 3220 had pci 3, which has better speed. I'm no longer specialist, so any advise welcome.
Thanks

I'd probably go for the free i7 if I were you. Even though it is pcie 2.0, it won't really be noticeable on your system. The i3 would probably be slightly faster on old games due to the slightly higher clock speed, but the i7 is free, and the extra threads will help with multitasking and some newer games. If you don't like how the i7 performs, then you can always spend the $50 you had planned on spending.

If your board supports It the I5 3470 Is good. But in gaming the i7 860 Is better than the I3 3220 as it's a Dual core and the I7 Is a quad and games like more cores.
Hands down take the I7 It's better for gaming. The I3 Is more efficient but if you can have that i7 Then take it and buy a used GPU Like a 960 Or a 750ti and you're ready to go I'd say
