Amd Vs Intel overall performance

Hi, im new to the computer scene, ive read a bit but still have lots to learn. I was wondering i noticed the ryzen 2700 requires more power than the intel 8600k, does a higher power consumption in CPU's make it produce more sound i.e are ryzen cpu's louder than intel cpu's?
(does it matter at all?)

Also does anyone know exactly what makes amd cpu's "inferior" to intel?

For instance, i7-8700K vs Ryzen 7 1800X.

Or the 2700X vs 8600K

Any difference in "noise" would come from a different fan.

How to incite a flamewar...!

AMD is not necessarily inferior to Intel, nor the other way around.

Yeah there's no definitive answer to which is better. Each have their strengths and weaknesses and AMD has been doing great things with the Ryzen platform.

For sheer gaming performance, Intel still pulls ahead due to stronger single core performance, however Ryzen and specifically the 2nd Gen Ryzen offer a better price to performance margin then Intel especially for productivity work or streaming setups.

Either platform is a good choice.

Apologies I dont mean to do that, I was mainly wandering does a higher power consumption in CPU's make it produce more sound i.e are ryzen cpu's louder than intel cpu's?

CPU's produce exactly zero sound.
A fan on that CPU will produce noise.

And stating one of the other is "inferior" is a cattle call to fanboys of both stripes.

Assuming you are thinking of more power = more heat. More heat = louder fans. But I wouldn't think theres going to be a major difference between the 2. I'm sure there is an article comparing them on here somewhere.

Fanboyism is what makes one side better than the other.

Superiority depends on what you are doing, the average user isn't going to notice that much of a difference between a $200 and $2000 chip regardless where it's from.

that's exactly what im assuming, More power = more heat, More heat = louder fans. do you know any sites/ search terms, that would show any detail comparisons of these?
