So I have this 1TB hard drive and it somehow crashed and won't come up. I connected it to an external and it's running but not reading the data. I need some advice as to what to do or what I can do to recover my files

I once lost access to data on an external drive, and could no longer see the data on the drive. But was able to recover the partition because it was actually still there. If you cannot recover the partition, you will probably be dealing with a more serious hardware failure.
