ASRock B360M - ITX/ac Mb build won’t connect to Ethernet. I just finished a fanless first build using a Streaming FC8 Alpha case and now when plugging in the Ethernet cable the computer does not show any form of connection. I have used the driver installation cd that came with the mb to install all the drivers and utilities but to no avail. I know for sure that it’s not a broken Ethernet cable yadiyadiya and all that jazz etc... anyone got any advice? Could the socket be broken or am I missing something else

thanks this is solved now

Just solved the problem.
Turns out that although the driver installation process through the CD indicated that it had installed the LAN driver it had in fact not done so so I’ve just installed it manually and now it works Happy
Well I hate to have to repeat this all the time, but..... do you have another PC to plug into place to verify jack works? Where you plug into typically have LEDs on top of the RJ45, and they signify something, u may have to consult the manual for that. Typically one LED says LINK (I see device on the other end) and the other LED signals whether 10/100 or 1000 connection establish.

When you plug in the CAT cable, it should go into the jacks with a positive click, no mushyness.

If disconnects, physical cabling problem, Windows LAN icon would say "disconnected" or "no connection" but if it says connected but you still can't Internet, then there is something else wrong with your LAN, and then I go back to paragraph #1, anything else in your home, WIRED (not WIFI), can Internet?

Thanks for your quick reply,
As I stated in my first comment the cable works absolutely fine and there's a healthy audible click when plugging the cable in. I checked the LED's above the rj45 and the top left light is blinking which according to the manual means data activity so some form of a connection must exist even though it doesn't indicate LINK. the top right is solid orange which means speeds of 100Mbps. Also, the computer says absolutely nothing its like it doesn't even acknowledge that there's an ethernet cable plugged in.

1. in the bios make sure the ethernet port is set right. (default) on new mb you can set it to post to network at boot. if it set to this then the port may not work in windows. with the new instal of windows you have to install the intel chipset driver and mei driver for the port to start to work.
