I bought a westerm digital elements hdd of 2tb capacity but it only shows 37gb storage. Already tried formatting and checking the disk management on windows but it's still 37gb. Can anyone help please?
An online retailer. It showed a grey question mark under smart status. From where did you purchase the HDD?
What does the WD diagnostics tool report about the HDD?
It's new. I also entered the serial number in wd website and it registered.(does that help?)Can you link the exact item you purchased and post it here? Was it a new, refurbished, or an open-box item?
Please run the diagnostics app linked earlier to check the HDD's health.
I'll try that right away and reply37GB indicates FAT32 formatting.
Disk Management, and actually DELETE all partitions.
Reformat as NTFS.
What happens?
It was alreay in NTFS. I formatted it. Nothing happened. Currently running the diagonostic tool.37GB indicates FAT32 formatting.

Actually, it was already in NTFS when I got it.I would guess it is "not new".
Says the product was sold and the link was removed. Then someone sold you a 40GB drive, but said it was 2TB.
As requested above...can you link to the exact sale or place you bought it from?
