Buy a new gpu or not... And is overkill a bad thing in this situation?

Hi everyone

I have upgraded my pc 1,5 ore 2 years ago...
So far as I know I did the best my motherboard can handle.

Motherboard : asrock z77 pro 3 en
CPU : Intel Core i7 3770 / 3.4 GHz - 4 cores.
Gpu: gtx 770 asus
Don't know how you say this in Englisch... Feeding?? : consair rm 750
Cooling cpu : dark rock 2 I think...
Monitor 1050p
16 ram

That something looks better (4k, full HD...) doesn't bother me... That it will go smooth and I can set settings higher does...

My plan was (what I'm hoping for)
To get a better gpu.. And somewhere in the future a 1080p monitor... Next year ore so... Don't really matter to me.
And if the games getting better maybe over a couple of years change my motherboard and a nieuw cpu and that that wood be enough to ceep me going for a couple of years more...

Now people warn me for overkill/buttlenecking and I really don't know mutch about t at all.

Buttlenecks my cpu a gtx 1080 ore higher (1170/1180 in the future)?
I know it overkill my monitor although I got a tip how I can get u higher resolution with mij 1050 monitor...

Can someone help me... Is it bad to buy a gtx 1070 ore gtx 1080?

My monitor is a old thing know... But if he is broken than I buy of course a 1080p ore higher..

I don't give up fast. People told me upgrading wasn't possible 2 years ago so the Witcher wood work. But I did it and it works! A new pc wood cost a lot more with everything I wanted...

So who can help me. I don't have a high budget so I can't buy everything at once... Can I do what I want to Do ore must I really wait untill my pc can't play the newer games and really have to buy a new pc because upgrading is hopeless. And the thinks I want can't be done.

I think a new cpu and motherboard over a couple off years is cheaper than a Nieuw pc. And I think the gtx 1080 and 1070 can do it for a long time...

Ps I play games like the Witcher, fable, sims, etc and use graphic programs like photohop and sketsup

your better off right now to wait for the newer nvidia gpu and intel 10nm cpu when they drop. then saving money for a new rig in 2019. your old gpu has still some resale value. the big problem now is both video card vendors and cpu vendors now are dropping new product now about every 12 months or less. intel has had big issue going down to 10nm cpu chips. in 2019 amd gpu and cpu will be on 7nm chips. your better off going with a new rig then holding onto it for a few years then upgrading the old rig or replacing it.

The problem is money.. I don't think I have the money to buy all together again for a couple of years. Only way to get ig faster is to buy little by little... I have to buy a new monitor, and grafic card.. It will take a while before I can buy the 1170/1180...think that's to mutch out of my budget for a long time.
Only way to do this is to what a long time and buy a new rig at 2020/2021maybe even longer... That's a long time from know.... Maybe I just buy a new monitor know then...
