So yesterday i bought the Ethernet cable and it came and it works but here's the thing about it. My recent old Ethernet cable was a cat 5 i believe grey color and it was giving me 94mbps download and upload speed so now when i got this new cat 6 blue Ethernet cord i was running a speed test and got the same results except my upload speed went higher like 114+ and my download speed stayed the same(94Mbps). I was so confused because my internet supports 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz wireless and the 5-GHz is 150Mbps and the 2.4-GHz is 50Mbps download speed. Can anyone help? I was hoping to get like 100+Mbps download and upload speed and my ISP is Verizon Fios. Heres what my order was (Mediabridge Ethernet Cable (25 Feet) - Supports Cat6/Cat5E/Cat5 Standards, 550MHz, 10Gbps - RJ45 Computer Networking cord) I have this hooked up to my laptop as well.

You can ignore any of the numbers on wireless when you are using ethernet. The traffic is not passing through the wifi radio chips.

So how fast is your verizon fios contract. You can not transfer faster than you pay for.

Next does your router have gbit wan and lan ports or are they just 100mbps. The ports will limit your speed even if the cables can run faster.

I suspect you actually have a cat5e cable...older cat5 cables are almost impossible to buy even if you want them. Cat5e can run gigabit speeds so as long as the cable is not defective it should run the same speed as the new cable.

Since you have 2 cable running the same speed I would suspect it is something other than the cable. What is somewhat strange is that you get over 100mbps sometimes. If it was always 94mbps I would say there was a port that was only running at 100mbps.

Mediabridge sells both junk and good cables. They sell CCA cable which is not certified cable....even though they outright lie and say it meets eia/tia standards. The standard REQUIRES the cable be pure copper so they immediately fail even if it can transfer data at rates. You also can not use that flat or thin cable. The wire size MUST be 22-24. Any of that other cable has strange issues.

My contract is for two connections one is 50Mbps and the other is 150Mbps. My router LAN all look the same all run the same ports which is all 4 of them and the wan is the yellow hole that is connected with a yellow Ethernet cable that also connects to my modem which also have yellow hole.

The color of the plastic means nothing you need to read the specifications for the router. If the ports are not gigabit that is likely your problem.

Not sure how you run 2 connections but you should still see 150mbps on the faster one.

You could try directly connecting a PC to the modem.

I tried but it doesn't work it makes everything not work in the house. There's only one WAN port and the rest of the LAN ports are all the same man. I'm gonna contact Verizon about this tomorrow because i'm just confused. However i was looking at the back of my router and seen a light on the back and it said "LAN" it also had something but no light named "WAN" so i don't know what to do.
