I have an FX-8350 black edition CPU and a GA-78LMT-USB3 R2 moba that I want to overclock on. I saw a lot of people say to turn the multiplier to 21.5 and enable HPC but I have an R2 and those were all on R1. If anyone has any information on overclocking on this board and this CPU let me know please. Thanks(I'm running a 212 evo for cooling)

Solution
just raise your multiplier one or two steps at a time.test in between adjustments with a program like occt.dont touch any other adjustments other than disabling turbo mode.do this until your pc crashes, then set it back one step on the multiplier.this is your max oc without raising cpu voltage.once you have reached this point you have to raise cpu voltage by a small amount, followed by an increase in the multiplier.after that it is a back and forth with the multiplier setting and the cpu voltage.with the cooler you have you wont get much beyond 4ghz without overheating.i have a 6300 overclocked to 4.5ghz and had to go to a better cooler.take a look at the nh d14 cooler from noctua.https://noctua.at/en/nh-d14
to get the max of your CPU with this MB you need to overclock the CPU NB to at least 2.4 and the RAM to at least 1866 with decent timings.
than you can set your cores somewhere between 3.4 and 4.2 depending on the temps and voltage required.
this MB (and your cooler) can't hold very high core clocks.
overclocking CPU NB and RAM will get you better multicore performance than cores at 5GHz.

It is already at 4gz and it turbos to 4.2 so do you mean I wont be able to get 5?

not with that cooler.like i said, try bumping the multiplier until the system becomes unstable.then try increasing cpu voltage in small increments until stable.watch temps closely, but for anything much over 4ghz that cooler just wont do it.
