Hello, So I recently got a gt 1030 and I tried to plug it in my 17 inch hp monitor 1280x1042 my monitor had a vga port and the card has a dvi port so what I did is get a dvi to vga cable from Amazon so I plugged the dvi side to the card and the vga side to the monitor by the way nothing is connected to the pc other than power cord keyboard and mouse the dvi to vga cable is connected to the gpu anyways, Once I plugged both sides I turned on my pc here's what happened. I noticed that I had no sound so I looked at the sound in the tray it showed a screen logo or a monitor logo I was confused I wasn't hearing anything so what I did was go to the sound settings and disable the monitor sound then it started working from the pc speaker but that's not the only issue I found weird also when I right clicked and clicked on screen resolution I saw that I had resolution option to 1980x1080 but my monitor only supports 1280x1042 also the quality was kinda bad but I played with that page a little bit I changed the refresh rate I think to 75 hertz then it went clear what's going on how can I get a peaceful working sound from speakers without the monitor logo and a max resolution to 1280x1042 and good quality without changing refresh rate or the hertz thing please help me I'm confused.

Solution
For the sound you should have some other options like Speaker and such. You should assign it as defalut communication device. Also if your sound card is an onboard one your can download and install a manager from its website. Thsi utility can help you configure your sound output.

for the resolution the problem might be the conversion from DVI to VGA. Probably windows can not recognize your monitor. I am not sure yet you can check your monitors web site for a driver. however if yoru monitor is old and if ou are using a recent operating system there may not be a driver suitable for your system.

The other solution you can change the settings from nvidai control panel manually.
