Overclock is fine with manual but crashes with offset?

Hey all,

I have a 3750k at 4.5 that needs 1.280V on manual. I messed around with offset and LLC until I was able to get 1.280V as well. It seems that on offset my voltage dips too low when I play games and crashes after 20-30 mins of gameplay.

Why is it dipping so low when running a game?

Solution
It's called Vdroop and happens under load. You can try running the LLC one setting higher. But don't go too high. It can have the opposite effect and overvolt.

Just keep it on manual with no offset, LLC at level 1/2 and see if the vdroop is less.

Do the games crash when you don't use the offset? What are you using to stress test? Prime 95 small fft's is a good bet. It will find instability in your voltage and give max temps. So it's a sure way to know if your OC is stable. You may need to just give it more voltage to get it stable. Just watch temps, and if they are more than 65 gaming and 80c load, then you are pushing too hard.

As a matter if interest, if you can get 4.3/4.4 at 1.25 and its stable, then that's better. You will not...
Disable power savings and see if works. Otherwise, you will need to revise and change the offset values.
Playing with offset values requires some fine tuning until you find the sweet spot where you wont crash under load and the system can transition from the both, minimum and maximum power states.
