Hello!

I am thinking about buying and building my own new PC. I have played on a lot of computers in the past. But always on already finished Computers sold by manufacturers . Currently I am just using my macbook air for studying and normal stuff. The new Desktop PC should be ready for new games, storage room (movies; pictures) and all the normal stuff. On the gaming site i am more interested in RPG and it should be capable of playing high end games in the next 2-3 years. Also I wont play as much as in the past, because I am quite old now and already done with studying. But all my little brothers and a few friends are playing and it is fun to play with them.

So here is my first build: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/gZXJmq

First: Is the cooler enough or should I go with a more expensive cooling system. I don't know much about manually overclocking so i probably wont use it. It would be just more expensive or is it better to go with a liquid cooling system in the longterm? (for example https://de.pcpartpicker.com/product/CrDzK8/corsair-cpu-cooler-cw9060025ww)

Second: As a for the graphic card I am considering the asus strix 1070 OC, but what is the difference to the 1070 TI and would it be better buying the asus strix 1080 for 90-100 bucks more? The build is already a bit expensive as i planned to be around 1600. However i thought it is more important to get the best processor and motherboard, because i can switch the graphic card in a few years out or add just another. What are your ideas about it? dunno really what to do and the 1080TI is too expensive for me.

Third: I can build it by my own or let a hardware supplier build it for me for 100. It would be delivered all together and under warranty, which is quite nice. But it would also be more expensive. Do u think the build will be difficult and are there a lot of risk of damaging the hardware components?

Thank you so much for helping me out here!

Kind regards

Felix

The k version is totally fine. It does give you more room to upgrade.

I have an extremely similar build and I've loved it so far. Looking at the two builds, I think I like the 1Tb m.2 setup better for only a ~$70 difference. That is a huge performance increase for a fairly small price increase.

In terms of hard drives, it really depends on what you are looking to spend. A 500 Gb m.2 is going to be waaay more expensive than the hdd. I say go for it if you don't care about price. That 1 Tb m.2 is going to be much faster than the hdd. You can always pick up another hdd later if you need the storage.

If there is no price difference between the 1070 and the 1070ti, then just go with the 1070ti since it is about 10-15% better. Honestly...

1. You don't need the unlocked K version of that processor if you are not going to overclock. That is just a waste of money. Also, that cooler is definitely sufficient.

2. It really depends on what you use it for, but I wouldn't even consider the 1070 ti because it is barely better than the 1070. If you want better than the 1070 then just do the full jump to 1080. Here's a comparison between the 1070 and 1070ti: http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-1070-Ti-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1070/3943vs3609

3. It really depends on how comfortable you are building. There are always risks with it, but it is also a good experience for anyone to personally assemble one. All of your parts should be under warranty, so don't worry about that. If you do decide to build it yourself, just watch some tutorials and give yourself plenty of time.

Okay big thanks for the answer. Just another questions, the other CPU version has just 3,2ghz and the one i choosed has 3,7ghz and the difference is around 40 euros. So i just went with the Kversion also maybe i will need overclocking in the future. Dont really know.

But what do u think of the build overall?

Would it be better to go for a m.2 ssd and no HDD anymore? so taking for example 1 500gb sata ssd and 1 500gb m.2SSD, ans just upgrading Satas in the future for more capacity?

At mindfactory there is almost no price difference bettwen the asus strix 1070 OC and TI; both are around 490 euros so i dont know which one i should take. The normal strix 1080 is around 70/80 euros more expensive and the next step would be the 1080TI which is around 300 euros more expensive.

feel free to suggest something better instead, i am always looking for other opinions and thereby improving.

thanks
