I have been reading through this website for hours but haven't been able to solve my issue. My private network is this: comcast cable/tv/phone modem to which I have connected a linksys wireless router and tv via Ethernet. I have a fire tv device I would like to connect via ethernet- I have already purchased the fire tv Ethernet adapter (fire tv is too slow on wifi). My problem occurs when I plug in the fire tv into the lan port on my linksys wifi router the wifi stops working. The fire tv setup for Ethernet connection asks me to imput router IP, prefix length (whatever that is), gateway, dns1, and dns2. I have setup the fire tv Ethernet via someones help guide but it did not work. Any help would be very appreciated.

Solution
Plug the wire that normally goes into the router into the TV and see if it works.
If it does something in your config on the 2nd router isn't working.

I'd consider making the 2nd router a wireless access point. turn off DHCP, put the webpage on the subnet of the first router, and plug all your wires into the LAN ports.

Hi and thank you for taking the time to respond. My Comcast owned modem has 4 LAN ports (2 available) and 2 wifi networks (i disabled the wifi on the comcast modem- iirc). Dhcp is enabled on my linksys router. The amazon fire Ethernet setup gives no choice (it seems) but to enter network info manually (also asks for subnet mask- forgot to include that in my previous message).
