I cloned my 1TB HDD to a 1TB SSD. I hoped to just pick up where I left off with the SSD as my main drive now and the HDD in the trash as it doesn't read or write anywhere close to what it is supposed to. I set the SSD as my boot drive in my bios. However when I remove my HDD my computer doesn't start anymore. Instead it says it is missing a crucial component. So I currently need to have my HDD plugged in still even when I boot off the SSD. Also in disk management my HDD still shows itself as being the boot drive while the SSD only show up as primary drive. So what am I not doing or what am I missing?

After redoing the clone I had the same problem. I flushed the cmos and tried to boot with only ssd and mgr boot

Solution
Sounds like you did something wrong in the cloning process.

If possible, redo it.

Specific steps for a successful clone operation:
-----------------------------
Verify the actual used space on the current drive is significantly below the size of the new SSD
Download and install Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration, if a Samsung SSD)
Power off
Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD
Power up
Run the Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration)
Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive
Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD
This is to allow the system to try to boot from ONLY the SSD
Swap the SATA...

Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive
Power up, and verify the BIOS boot order
If good, continue the power up

It should boot from the new drive, just like the old drive.
Maybe reboot a time or two, just to make sure.

If it works, and it should, all is good.

Later, reconnect the old drive and wipe as necessary.
Delete the 450MB Recovery Partition, here:
