Is the Core i5 6600k still a good CPU to game with heading toward the end of 2018 and during 2019? If so, how much longer would this CPU be beneficial to have for in my gaming rig?

Or should I go with a better CPU than that? I was think about an AMD Ryzen 5 2600.

RIG:
Intel Core i5 6600K 3.50 GHz
ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1070 Mini 8GB
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz
GIGABYTE GA-Z270P-D3 LGA1151
SanDisk SSD PLUS 240GB Solid State Drive
WD Blue 1TB HDD

Solution
Some are fine with 4c/4t, but, many games do better with more threads and/or cores...; one option would be to sell off the 6600K, and slap in a 7700K to hold you over a year or so...(kind of an expensive option,as the 8600K and a new MB cost about the same nowadays, as the 7700K is the 'last stop' for 100/200 series boards....which has elevated prices somewhat...
