Hello,
I currently have a system running with one GTX 970 which is overclocked.

Other components
MB: Asus Strix Z370 Gaming-f
CPU: i7-8700K @ 5GHz OC
RAM: 2x 8GB DDR4 @ 2666MHz
SSD: Samsung 950 Pro 500GB
HDD: 2x 1TB
Fans: 2x case fans 120mm and BeQuiet! Silent loop 240 water cooling for the CPU
Current PSU: BeQuiet! Straight power 10 600W

My question is if my current PSU can handle another GTX 970 in SLI or if I need to upgrade that too, in which case I would appreciate some advise for a good price-performance PSU.

Thanks in advance!

If you really want to do it, fine, get 650/750 from one of the below models:

Corsair TXM
Seasonic Focus Plus
EVGA supernova G2/G3 for ~100 euros and get your 2nd 970
Or just sell 970 for ~200 and get a 400 euro 1070.
used PSU is much harder to sell...

The straightpower 10 is decent, although not a top tier unit.

A 970 is a ~150W TDP x2 = 300W

An 8700K @ 5GHz can pull >200W

Add the balance of the components, and the fact that PSU is a max 48A on the 12V rail(s) = 576W max and you're going to be right at the upper end of what that PSU can do. Supposedly it can do ~670W peak, but I wouldn't bank on that.

It's a little too close for comfort, for me. I'd look to a minimum of a quality 750W unit if it were me.

Where are you located? What kind of budget do you have for a PSU?

970 -> 150W *2 =300W
CPU -> 95W
plus overclocking I will say 500+ W is easily reached. Normally we will leave 20% head room for PSU to run healthy. I would suggest getting a 650+ good quality psu. May I ask why SLI? sell the 970 and get a 1070 or 1170 is recommended, new series is getting better and consume less power as well. Major usage?

Not sure where do you get the 200 W number?

SLI because i can get a 970 for around 100 Euro, which i am fine to spend right now.
I think for just that money the improvment in performance would be worth it. (Casual Gaming and Video Editing)
If I would need to buy a new PSU in addition to the second 970 the plan is to wait and get a 1070 or something near that later, just as you mentioned.

Just had the idea beacause i am able to get a 970 for around 100 Euro, which would be a good improvement for the money. But as it turns out, I will probably wait and get a single 1070 or something near that and keep my current PSU.

Or would it in that case make more sense to sell my current PSU and get a new one with 970s in SLI?

Overall budget would be 200 Euro
