Hi, I'm planning on buying a pair of hyperx cloud alphas as my first headset. My motherboard is an asus h170 pro gaming which comes with the realtec alc1150 audio codec.I was wondering if the onboard driver is "good enough" for the cloud alphas or should i get a dedicated sound card like something along the asus lineup. Also, which is better, the realtec alc 1150 codec or the hyperx cloud 2 usb sound card. Thanks in advance!

I looked up your motherboard. You have the same audio as in my ROG Formula. I am very happy happy with the sound on that motherboard.

In fact, I installed a Altec Lansing 2 +1 subwoofer from a older system on it. I was planning on getting a better speaker setup. But the sound was much better with that motherboard. And the old system had a sound blaster PCI sound card.

So I think you will be OK.

Aight sounds good. If it makes any difference I'm gonna be using the headset for fps games such as pubg and csgo so footsteps are a big thing. And also occasionally listening to music.
