I now have enough money to buy myself a new gamng PC and am going to give my old pc (ddr2 motherboard) to a friend so he has a basic computer to use.

the only problem is the ram cards burnt out and I am ready to order new ones but was wondering if these would work:

KOMPUTERBAY 8GB (2 X 4GB) DDR2 DIMM (240 PIN) 667Mhz PC2 5400 PC2 5300 8 GB

The Ram I did have was:

CORSAIR XMS2 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X4096-6400C5

im not good with all the tech wording and wanted to make sure I did not buy ram that would not work. I wanted to get extra bit of memory for him but if i have to stick with the 4gb then i will.

Also, whats the difference between DIMM and SDRAM? from what I found there is not but as I said im not the best at tech wording.

Solution
If the modules (the black thingy chips) are on both sides, it should work without any issue at all, but if the modules are on one side, they might not work.
Thats what is important with those ram chips.
I dont what are the differences between SDRAM and DIMM, but care about that they are not for laptop only, and that you're not overpaying them.
Well if you are unsure about my answer, wait for others.
Also 10$ Q6600 or Q8400 should give extra Umpf

ASRock G31M-GS FSB1600 DDR2 800 Dual channel.

Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5400 @ 2.70 ghz.

I know the corsair will work as thats what i have in my hand right now i just want a bit more memory for him.
