So, I built my grandfather a computer a couple months ago using the GIGABYTE Z370P D3 motherboard, XPG SX8200 PCIe NVMe M.2 480GB, Intel i3 8100, 16GB 3200Mhz DDR4 TeamGroup RAM and everything went really smooth with the build and windows install.
After a week or so, my grandfather started experiencing issues booting up. He gets the message "No boot device detected" once windows tries to load. It's the only drive in the system. The only way to get it to boot up is to re-seat the drive (unscrew it, remove it, put it back in, and re-insert the screw) AND to remove all USB input devices (printer, external drives, etc) besides the mouse and keyboard. Then it magically works.
I thought that if I updated the bios to the latest version, this issue might be solved, but it wasn't. In fact, it feels like it happens even more frequently. I know there are a lot of posts about this, none with any real conclusive solutions. Is there something I'm doing wrong here or is this just a "bleeding-edge-technology" issue that hasn't had the kinks ironed out yet? The only solution I can think of is getting him a tried-and-true regular SATA SSD. Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks in advance
