Hi All,

Below is description of my PC problems.

My PC Configuration:
Motherboard: ASUS X99-A/USB3.1
CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K
RAM: 2 x (2 x 8GB) G.Skill Ripjaws4 (F4-3000C15D-16GRK) DDR4
Graphic Card: GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 980 TI 6GB GAMING G1
Power Supply Unit: Corsair CP-9020056 RM850 80 Plus Gold 850W ATX/EPS

Problem description:

The motherboard was working fine with all the above hardware until some time ago.

It just started to behave weird 1 day, I see no reason for it.

With 4 memory cards installed into slots suggested in the manual (A1, B1, C1 and D1), my PC starts only until ASUS logo and then restarts automatically all the time or it freezes when ASUS logo appear on the screen, then I need to cut off the power so BIOS can setup fail safe defaults.

Entering BIOS when it happens is either impossible or the PC restart after entering BIOS.

After start failure BIOS is setting fail safe values (memory works below nominal speed) and PC can start normally (but not always, it’s kind of a random thing), entering BIOS shows that CPU works with a speed of 2.9 GHz.

The above happens with all BIOS settings set to auto, PC works with nominal frequency 3.3 GHz.

The PC works fine with only 1 memory card used (any of the 4 cards I have).

Memory was tested in another PC and no errors or malfunction was diagnosed, also it was tested in my Asus motherboard (1 card at a time) and no problems found. I used MemTest for testing.

I tried also a different PSU, Corsair RMi 850W, but the problem still exists.

Motherboard is still under warranty. It was sent to a service and it got back with "no problems diagnosed" note.

After it was returned from the service as fully functional I tried to put memory into 4 other slots (A2, B2, C2 and D2) and noticed that none of the cards are detected by the motherboard in any of the slots (A2-D2).

Screen on the motherboard shows error 53 when any memory inserted to A2-D2, also when there is no memory installed it shows 53 (55 is for no memory installed).

I did reset CMOS by unplugging power cable and removing battery for about 30 minutes.

Can you please help me finding the problem?

I still think it is a motherboard but I am not able to test it :(

Thanks in advance for any advice.

edit: updated info about RAM as it isn't a 4 stick kit, these are 2 kits 2 stick each.

It isn't OC.

I think it still is under warranty.

But is surprising me is the error 53 (memory initialization error) with no memory installed (it should show 55).

F4-3000C15D-16GRK is not a 4 x 8GB kit. Memory manufacturers don't guarantee using multiple kits will be compatible together. Being unable to operate at rated specifications and behavior that you are experiencing are the result of using multiple memory kits.

My bad i didn't mark in the description, I will fix it, these are 2 x (2 x 8GB) kits.

I'm not sure if you're right, I mentioned also it only works with 1 memory stick installed.

It doesn't work with 2 memory stick (even they are from the same kit). In any slots configuration.#

I would understand it but it should only happened if 4 of them would be paired as a 4 x 8GB kit so if I install them as 2 separate pairs it should be fine right?

Will give it another try and share the resultsl
