I have an old MSI 990 FXA Gaming that doesn't want to post. The booting process start ok but then all I got a "B2" message. I try the MSI forum, but there was no help there. I always boot in IDE mode but maybe it will work in ACHI. The problem is that I can't access the bios settings. I'm using a AMD FX 4350 cpu and 16GB of Crucial 1600 ram. Single WD 1 TB HDD .and an Nvidia GTX 960 video card (I bought it at Wish, so I believe is a Chinese copy). Anyway it has been working quite well. It is out of warranty( I have this mobo for many years now). Does any body knows what the "B2" means? How can I go directly to the bios?
FYI; I'm using a PCIe add-on card as the hdd port, the factory built in ones stop working.
Will you please help me save my MB.

Well, I do everything suggested, still no post. It will display the devices that are plug in the add-on card (as usual) and when I try to enter the bios (by pressing the delete key) its display the "B2". Still don't know what that is.

There is most likely a HD Boot Priority submenu somewhere. Your currently installed HDD should be at the top of it. UEFI HD would then typically select that as the boot device. For this system, you may want to make your DVD or CD drive your first boot device, and the HDD second; if there's no disk in the drive, the system will go on to the hard drive. In this way, it would be easier for you to boot into a Windows DVD if you need to reformat and reinstall Windows. If neither AHCI nor IDE work now, I'd set to AHCI for the re-install.

Thanks for keeping with me. I appreciated.
I has already reinstall windows on this pc, never the less I'll do another installation. BTW; how do you choose achi mode at the installation process? I'll continue with this tomorow. I have enough for today. I'm very grateful for your help.:)

Did your motherboard lose its SATA ports while you've had it? That your HDD doesn't want to work in AHCI mode makes me want to ask about your PSU; what brand and model is it? Do you use a decent surge protector with your system? Electronic devices tend to stay reliable once past an initial 30 days or so, so for your system to experience a number of possible failures makes me wonder about potential causes.

My mobo still alive. Somehow the sata ports start working again. I re-install windows and everything was good. Then I try to install another hdd and all hell broke loose. Is there's a way to recover the "UEFI Windows Boot Manager" with out re=installing windows. Some how it is missing. Try the UEFI HD, didn't work, already try ACHI that didn't work either. Any ideas.

BTY; the psu is a Replace power RP-ATX-850-BL. I know is a cheap psu but it has been working fine for years.
