Hey guys.
I bought a 2nd-hand Lenovo Yoga 500 (500-14IBD) online. It came with the 65-watt adapter. Unfortunately, it seems like the unit suffers the same issue as the Lenovo models affected in this thread.

I didn't see a mention of the Yoga 500 but I'm very sure it suffers from the same issue. When I use it on battery, the CPU runs normally, but as soon as I plug the charger in, it maxes out at 500mHz.

Anyway, as per the title, can I use a 90-watt adapter --- which I think is for the Thinkpad models --- without issues? That it might fix the slowness while being plugged will be a wish for now, until I get to actually use it (will have to order it online). I just wanted to know if it's safe to do so. Thanks, ahead!

PS: This is my first Lenovo and will be my last. Looks like they not only have poor damage control, they suck at customer service, too.

Solution
Yes, but follow these rules:
1. The output connector must match.
2. The polarity of the output connector must match.
3. The output voltage must be the same.
4. The output amperage must be greater than or equal to that required by the laptop.
5. The output wattage must be greater than or equal to that required by the laptop.

Btw I had to do the same thing because the charger lenovo included with my laptop was insufficient for sli. Only one gpu was in use for a long time before I figured it out.

Thank you! I think i've got everything covered except number 2,.. As this is a USB-type plug, the idea of polarity went over my head. But i did check the label on my 65-watt adapter and thankfully, that was properly documented. Thanks, again!
